Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
–Romans 3:19-20
Last night something hit me like a lighting bolt as I picked up my Bible, which had been neglected the past few days. I read the verse above, and some surrounding verses, and I thought about today’s society and all the horrible things we’re seeing in this day and age.
And even through my thoughts of all of this, God opened my eyes and showed me that His plan is perfect, even in this circumstance.
We see many who break the law, and we ourselves break the law–the Law of God.
Yet, when we do, it points to the sinfulness of man–and the righteousness of God.
I know we have all broken God’s law, but for those who accept Christ, we are forgiven, and our compelled by the Spirit to do good works God has set before us to do. We are no longer under the power of the Law, which showed us our sin. And when we see our sin, we also see the opposite–God’s righteousness. And we see a world of lawbreakers who need God’s mercy.
God uses all things to glorify Himself–and all things work out for good.

I think that my mom said something about God’s righteousness and our sin the other day but I don’t remember. I wish I did. It’s really going to bug me now……. Oh well!! Don’t you all just love it when you have a really good day and you didn’t think it was possible.

P.S There is a mistake in your first paragraph. It says: as I picked up my Bible, which had been being neglected. It should be was being or had been..

It is amazing isn’t it? One explanation of how God works always got me thinking about it. Basically, the explanation says that when God brings us into His family and gives us His name – from that point on, when He sees us, He sees Jesus Christ and not our filthy rags of “righteous” acts.
Great post!

I am so encouraged when I read that young people are really seeking to know the Lord in a personal way through His word. Keep it up, you will not regret it. God is so faithful to us IN SPITE OF US.
