I had trouble closing my dresser drawers this afternoon. I pushed harder on the thick padding of shirts and pants. No movement. It was full – really, really full. I tossed the remaining pieces of clothing from the neatly folded laundry pile back onto my bed.
Now I must interject, it’s not that this dresser [...]

The Case Against Adolescence Opposite Way

Not only did Alex and Brett interview Leeland, but on visiting Leeland’s site, I found you can actually listen to the entire album online for free. That’s awesome.

March Madness

I’m actually not talking about that great sport of basketball, but rather the month ahead of me. And it all started today.

March 3rd, 2006: I arrive at Patrick Henry College at 10:00 AM in the morning to attend chapel, tour the campus, eat lunch, and then talk to the admissions folks. Little did I know what was ahead for me.

I quickly realized that HSLDA has it’s headquarters at PHC, so my dad asked if lScott Somerville worked there. Sure enough–and he was upstairs at that very moment. Wild, really, to think I was that close to such a cool blogger and HSLDA attorney. So I ask the secretary at the desk to tell Scott Somerville that “Agent Tim” is downstairs. Within moments, I’m shaking hands and chatting about blogging, politics, etc.

Then, I took the tour–which was great! I really enjoyed everything there, and hope to return to sit in on a class.

But, I digress. Back to the dining common…or room…my family and I are sitting with Scott Somerville, eating hamburgers, and again, talking about blogging and also about courageism, blogging, Michael Steele, Teen Pact, and Michael Farris. Yes, the Michael Farris.

Great times.

Fast forward to March 6th, 2006: Teen Pact, here I come. I’m almost done with my homework, which has taken a few hours to complete, and I’m really looking forward to taking the Teen Pact class, meeting some legislators, and passing the bill I’m writing–all about Sunday Blue Laws.

And in between all of that, I have a birthday, school to catch up on, and some hard work to do with Regenerate Our Culture. So, if posts are somewhat sporadic, you can blame the March Madness. But stay tuned while I try to update on Teen Pact as much as possible.

March Madness…here I come.

Have fun at TeenPact! my pals here are finally just caught up on their sleep from that…if you see Lydia shanks, tell her hannah (pronounced haunnah) says hi. :-)
i can’t wait to do the tour myself. sounds neat.

Wow! What an awesome opportunity!! :) I’m sure you had some great discussions with Mr. Somerville. :)

So, how did you like Patrick Henry College? We’ve been thinking of possibly visiting there for quite a while, because it seems like such a wonderful school. What did you think of it?

    Jaqui, I certainly will!

    Lindsey,
I would highly reccomend visiting. The location is perfect, the students are great, the teachers sound fantastic, the atmosphere suited me, and the dorms are only 3-6 years old…and very nice! All in all, I loved it, but am still praying as to where God will lead me.

    Kierstyn,
It was a lot of fun, and it’s nice because I don’t live terribly far away. As for Teen Pact, yes, this is my first time, and I’ve quickly learned to do homework earlier. I’m just finishing it all up this evening and will be done tomorrow. The bill analysis is pretty hard…but I did like writing a bill. Hopefully I get a good grade on that!

    Cool!

SWEET TIM! That is too cool! :-D

I loved visiting PHC. Nice campus, great people, fun histroy class. It is certainly a great school.

TeenPact is great-hope you get assigned to the Extra-Terrestial Reaseach committee for something like that! Then you can really have fun. Enjoy, and we’ll look forward to a report :-) !

  8. Tim Says:

    It was awesome Travis!

Dakota…wow, that sounds VERY interesting. Now I’m REALLY looking forward to this. Did you have any trouble writing your bill? I decided to forbid retail stores from opening on Sunday…I wonder if I should actually amend the law or write a new bill…

  9. Kierstyn P. Says:

haha! Teen Pact is AWESOME. Writing the bill(which happened to be reducing the income tax ;) ) was alot of fun, and the bill analysis (mine was on eminent domain) was challenging, but fun as well.

Oh yeah, committees are a ton of fun!

The Speakers and the Worship/Prayer walks are awesome. You will DEFINATELY Love it!

  10. Dakota Says:

Yes, TeenPact (or as some of us sillier individuals call it, TP) is tons of fun. And a tad strange. You’ll love it.

About the bill: it is easier to start from scratch, but if Maryland already has a Sunday blue law, then you might want to amend that. It all depends on how complicated the current law is, and how you want to amend it. I’d go with a new bill, including a “superceding” clause to clear up any problems.

My bill wasn’t very tough, but it never came to vote on the floor. If I recall, it did make it through the committee. But, as in the real Congress, you have very little time to really discuss the bills in session. Anyway, have fun!

That’s totally awesome. PHC is a great college. I was admitted there last year, but at the last second, God showed me it just wasn’t where I was meant to be. There are some great people there. :)

  12. Scott W. Somerville Says:

Tim, your visit came at one of those moments that makes people believe in the sovereignty of God. I’ve been praying hard about some big questions, and while your visit wasn’t exactly a “fleece” (you’re not fuzzy enough, yet), it was a “sign.”

    Tim,

Hey :) I saw your first comment on Hitman but could find any follow ups. I saw you visted PHC?! I kept thinking if I had seen you but it looks like you were only in for the day. If you come back, make sure to let me know. I’d love to meet you. :)
